Padmaavat: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor thank Akshay Kumar for postponing PadMan release

Setting a new precedence, Superstar Akshay Kumar has pushed the release date of his upcoming PadMan to February 9, allowing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum-opus Padmaavat to release uncontested on January 25, 2018.

Thanking Khiladi Kumar for his gesture, Padmaavat stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor shared their gratitude on Twitter.

Ranveer tweeted, “Big Man with a Big Heart! @akshaykumar … Grateful to you, Sir …. Mad Love and Respect”

Lead actress Deepika Padukone thanked the PadMan team with a quote from Rumi.

CEO of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures Ajit Andhare also tweeted, “This is generosity, grace & real solidarity. On behalf of @Viacom18Movies and team @filmpadmaavat I humbly thank @akshaykumar @kriarj @Sony & Balki, Vivek krishnani.”

Earlier today, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Akshay Kumar held a joint press conference where Akshay announced that PadMan will be arriving in theatres on February 9.

“I am sorry for being late with my film. There is no point of clashing now. I can completely understand that his (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) need is more for this date than mine. So, I will just go ahead. I am also grateful to my studios Sony and Kriraj for accepting the whole thing because they have also invested in this,” he said.

Admitting that he will be grateful to Akshay all his life, Bhansali said, “Padmaavat has been made after a lot of difficulties. We decided on the release date of 25 January but it was with Akshay Kumar’s date for PadMan. We requested Akshay to shift the date of PadMan because he is a big star and it would become difficult for us if our films would have released together. He knows about our difficulties and agreed in two minutes and he immediately said that he will do as I say. It needs a very large heart. You have to be able to exude so much goodness. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing and I think I will be grateful to him for a lifetime for what he has done. I think the industry and world can understand that this is how we respect and stand by each other. And the fraternity will be proud of Akshay has done today because it is a gresture which is quite impossible in this industry. Thank you so much, Akshay.”
