On its Day One, Befikre has seen footfalls on the expected lines. The film was set to take a double digit opening and this is what happened as the collections came to 10.36 crore. Of course a little more would have helped and anything in 11-12 crore range was something that would helped the film gain an even better platform. Nonetheless, considering the fact that the film is collecting primarily from the multiplexes, one waits to see how much further does it grow today and tomorrow.
That said, the film is still the biggest opener since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which had released six weeks ago. Opening day of major films released ever since then has been as below:
Amongst these, the only films that went on to have substantial collections were Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay, both of which were powered by the Diwali holidays. Befikre doesn’t have any such benefit going in its favor which means it would be primarily looking at its collections to go past Dear Zindagi in the final run.
Word of mouth for the film is mixed and as expected, it is only the youth which could still give it some sort of patronage. It would be very crucial for the film to stay stable during the weekend (which it should) and then not take a fall during the weekdays (for which it is going to be a wait and watch approach).
Still, the fact remains that Ranveer Singh has enjoyed yet another film of his to get a good opening and that too on select count of screens (2100). He has managed to build a fan base for himself and now it has to be seen if this very target audience helps the film to enjoy a good run too.
