Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan SAATH-SAATH

Kumar to share screen space with Khan, in a manner of speaking, this week

They’ve neither been co-stars, nor have they clashed at the box-office. Though they haven’t signed a movie together, a few weeks from now, they will be sharing screen space in a manner of speaking. That’s when the promo of Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 reaches out to a a far wider audience, thanks to it being attached to Aamir Khan’s forthcoming movie Dangal.

Hitching a wagon to a star
“A simple call was taken and both Aamir and Akshay were quite fine with that,” informs our source, “There are quite a few films that are vying for promo space alongside Dangal, which is unarguably the most-awaited film this year. The timing couldn’t have been better for Jolly LLB 2 as Dangal releases around 50 days prior to its own arrival at the box office. This gives Akshay the right amount of time to kickstart the promotional campaign and then gain leverage from Dangal playing in theatres.” Considering that Dangal is expected to play in almost every mainstream theatre screening a Hindi film for at least two weeks in succession, Jolly LLB 2 would grab a huge number of eyeballs.

What’s common
“Moreover, both films cater to the family audiences and have a similar rustic charm to them. Dangal is set in Haryana while Jolly LLB 2 is based in Lucknow. Both Aamir and Akshay are playing the aam aadmi, who ends up doing something extraordinary despite all the constraints. It isn’t as if the promo of a musical is being shown in the middle of an action film or the promo of a historical film is being unveiled during a comic affair. Both films are attached to reality and hence it would be pretty much a smooth viewing for audiences, whether Jolly LLB 2 promo arrives at the beginning or interval of Dangal,” the source adds.

Date set
Meanwhile, a date has also been set for the online launch of Jolly LLB 2 promo. “On the internet, you will be able to watch the Jolly LLB 2 promo today itself,” says an insider attached to the Subhash Kapoor directed-film, “You will get to see more than just a jhalak of Akshay as a lawyer who dares to take on the State, no less. This time around, the conflict is much bigger with wider ramifications when compared to Jolly LLB, which was more of a localised affair,” concludes the source.

Akshay’s fans can definitely look forward to this treat when they head to watch Dangal.
