Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s love story is being resurrected.
Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai (now Bachchan) have to their credit one of the most well-known affairs that the Hindi film industry has ever seen. The two actors were in a relationship for a while, before parting ways. Once they had broken up, Aishwarya accused her ex-boyfriend Salman of harassing her. The Taal star provided tabloids and gossip mills with fodder to last them many years when she alleged that Salman had even hit her while the two were together.
However, while that is all in the past now, trust fate – or filmmakers – to remind the Indian movie-going audience of the relationship that the two had. Their crackling chemistry on the silver screen, of course, is at the centre of it all. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the only person to have made a film with Salman and Aishwarya together till date. The iconic Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (2003) is spoken of almost in the same breath whenever someone talks about Salman and Aishwarya together. And trust Bhansali to use that to his advantage for his upcoming film Bajirao Mastani.
The war epic starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra has 10 songs and the official soundtrack. And one among this is the famous love song from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Albela Sajan Aayo Re.
The song, which was used in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam to depict Salman and Aishwarya’s love story, is being recreated for Bajirao Mastani, reports Mumbai Mirror. While the lyrics have been kept intact, six singers have been signed to sing this version of the track. In Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, the song was voiced by late Ustad Sultan Khan, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Shankar Mahadevan.
It will be interesting to see how Bajirao Mastani harks back to Salman and Aishwarya’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. For the uninitiated, Bhansali actually had planned his period romance with the two ex-flames in mind. Post Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, of course, all of that had to be dropped.
