Bollywood’s latest release, Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Dilwale VS Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ starring Salman Khan both opened well at the box office. While ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ went on to become the second highest grossing film of all time worldwide, ‘Dilwale‘ is getting started in the race. In ‘Dilwale VS Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, the latter is leading in terms of first day collections. The first day occupancy rate of both films have been more or less same but due to the clash of ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’, SRK starrer movie has lost potential business.
Salman Khan starrer film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ earned Rs. 26 crore net (260 million) approx on its first day at the Box Office. The film has witnessed an excellent performance on the first day gaining an opening of 65-70% on average. ‘Dilwale’ has got a collection of Rs. 22 crores net approx (Rs. 220 million) on its first day despite the clash with an occupancy rate of 65% approximately which is similar to ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan‘. Thus considering the first day collections of ‘Dilwale VS Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, the latter wins.
However had there been no ‘Dilwale VS Bajirao Mastani’, that is if the films were released individually on separate dates both the first day amounts would have been higher. Dilwale could have easily collected around Rs. 30 crores approx. Which in turn would have beaten the record set by the latter while comparing ‘Dilwale VS Bajrangi Bhaijaan‘. Nonetheless the highest opening day of all time has been set by another Salman Khan film of this year that is ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ which got a smashing collection of Rs. 39 crores net approx (Rs. 390 million).
